Stichexploration

Im freien Sticken geht es auch darum, Stiche auszuloten, d. h. herauszufinden, wie sich ihr Aussehen und ihre Wirkung durch unterschiedliche Anordnung, Ausrichtung und Dichte verändern lassen. Hier habe ich nun eine sogenannte Stichexploration mit dem Hexenstich gearbeitet. Wenn man sich erst einmal daran gewöhnt hat, daß nicht alle Stiche in Reih und Glied stehen und gleich groß sein müssen, macht so etwas wirklich Spaß.

As an introduction to free embroidery you have to find out in which way the look and "feeling" of a stitch can be changed and influenced by it's length, orientation and thickness among others. Here I made a stitch exploration with the herringbone stitch. Once you get used to the fact that in this kind of embroidery stitches don't have to be marching on in a row or look alike this really is fun to do.
