Blumentraum

Nun ist die Hausaufgabe für den Stickkurs auch fertig. Zum Stichwort "Blumen" fiel mir diese Wiese ein. Es war ziemlich viel Arbeit, hat aber auch enorm Spaß gemacht. Wenn ich ein Thema habe, fällt es mir viel einfacher, frei zu arbeiten. Inspiration war in diesem Fall ein Stück wilde Wiese, auf das mein Auge fiel, als wir am Autobahnzubringer an der Ampel standen. Es ist erstaunlich, was auf so einem kleinen Stück alles blüht!

This is the finished homework I had to do this month for my stitching class.The theme was "flowers" and after having seen a small patch of grass with an abundance of flowers growing wildly this was what came to mind. It was quite a lot of work but much fun to do. It is easier for me to work freely when I have a theme.

Berührender Kurzfilm

Diesen Kurzfilm habe ich in Sarah Lechners neuem Blog gefunden "Tales from beyond the glimpse". Wer 12 Minuten Zeit hat, sollte sich dieses Vergnügen gönnen.
Der junge Mann hat mich sehr stark an meinen Sohn erinnert; die beiden müssen etwa im gleichen Alter sein. Allerdings hoffe ich sehr, daß mein Sohn nicht so schrecklich traurig und allein ist!

The young man very much reminded me of my son; they are of about the same age I think. But I really hope that my son is neither as lonely nor as depressed.

Schöne Heimat

Am Mittwoch habe ich mit meinem Mann eine Reise in die Umgebung gemacht. Es ist kaum zu glauben, wie selten man wahrnimmt, wie schön das eigene Land ist, und das nur wenige Kilometer von zu Hause entfernt. Wir waren in der Nähe von Trippstadt im Karlstal. Es war so schön und verwunschen, daß ich mich ständig an Mittelerde (Herr der Ringe) erinnert fühlte.



My hubby and me made a short trip on Wednesday. Only several miles away from home we found this valley (Karlstal near Trippstadt) which constantly reminded of Middle Earth (Lord of the Rings) because it was so beautiful and somehow enchanted.

Wilde Frau

Bei einer Freundin von mir wurde zum zweiten Mal Brustkrebs diagnostiziert. Ich habe diese wilde Frau für sie gemacht, um ihr symbolisch Kraft zu schenken für die Zeit, die ihr bevorsteht.

A friend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. I made this wild woman for her in order to symbolically give her strength for the future.

Sendepause

Derzeit sind bei uns einige Renovierungsarbeiten fällig. Leider ist auch mein Arbeitszimmer betroffen. Ich bin quasi heimatlos, zumindest, was meine künstlerischen Aktivitäten betrifft. Natürlich könnte ich wieder an den Küchentisch zurückkehren, aber da ja auch alle Materialien im Arbeitszimmer sind (jetzt schön abgedeckt, damit sie nicht verkleckern), wäre es doch eher unpraktisch immer hoch und runter zu laufen.
Daher bin ich besonders froh, den Stickkurs zu haben. Die kleinen Arbeiten sind sehr handlich und benötigen wenig Material und keine Maschine. Das Foto oben zeigt das erste Stück, das ich in dem Kurs gearbeitet habe - es ging um das Thema Couchen und gerade Stiche. Ein reines Übungsstück, nichts, was besonders ansprechend wäre!

There is not much to show and tell right now. We are renovating our house a little, and as a matter of fact my studio is in the middle of the action right now. Artistically I am homeless. I could return to the kitchen table, but since all my material is in my studio (covered up in order to avoid staining and dust) this would not be very practical, there are four flights of stairs between my studio and the kitchen.
Thus I am quite glad for the online class in stitching. These small pieces don't use much material and no machine, you can carry them along and work sitting on the couch. The photo above shows my first piece which was just a study in couching and straight stitches.
